Privacy Policy

AuxWire ("the app") is an unofficial Android Automotive OS client for Plex, developed by Jarai Howard. This page explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and what choices you have.

What AuxWire connects to

AuxWire is a client for your own Plex Media Server. It does not have its own AuxWire account system, does not host or provide any media itself, and does not have its own backend server. When you sign in, AuxWire talks directly to two places:

• plex.tv — to authenticate you via Plex's own sign-in flow and discover which Plex servers and libraries you have access to.
• Your Plex Media Server — the server you own or that was shared with you — to browse your library, stream and download audio, and report playback progress back to Plex (so "Continue Listening" and playback history work the same as any other Plex client).

AuxWire does not operate any servers of its own, and no data passes through infrastructure controlled by Jarai Howard or this website.

What's stored on your device

• Your Plex sign-in token — stored encrypted on-device (Android's Keystore-backed encrypted storage), used only to authenticate requests to plex.tv and your own server.
• Downloaded audio — when you choose to download an album or playlist for offline playback, the audio files are stored in AuxWire's private app storage on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere and are deleted when you remove the download or uninstall the app.
• Playback cache — a small local cache of recently streamed audio and artwork, used only to reduce redundant network requests to your own server.

None of this data is sent to Jarai Howard, this website, or any third party other than plex.tv and your own Plex Media Server.

What AuxWire does not do

• No advertising or ad-tracking SDKs
• No analytics or crash-reporting services
• No AuxWire account — sign-in is entirely through Plex's own authentication
• No selling or sharing of your data with third parties
• No access to contacts, location, camera, or other device data unrelated to playing your media

Permissions the app requests

• Internet / network state — to reach plex.tv and your Plex Media Server
• Notifications — for the playback and download-progress notifications required by Android's foreground-service media APIs
• Foreground service (media playback & downloads) — so audio keeps playing, and downloads keep running, while you use other apps

Data deletion

Because AuxWire has no account or server of its own, there's no separate "delete my account" step — signing out clears your locally stored sign-in token, and clearing the app's storage (or uninstalling AuxWire) removes any downloaded audio and cache. To revoke AuxWire's access to your Plex account entirely, remove it from your list of authorized devices/apps at plex.tv account settings.

Children's privacy

AuxWire is not directed at children under 13, and the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
